Retaining Walls Direct supplies concrete sleepers, galvanised steel H-beam posts, C-channel posts, and retaining wall accessories direct to building sites, residential properties, and civil projects across Australia. Heavy materials need specialist logistics — here's exactly how we handle yours.

Two Ways to Receive Your Order

1. Freight Delivery to Your Site

We coordinate specialist freight carriers to deliver direct to your property anywhere in Australia. This is the most popular option for homeowners and builders who don't have access to a crane truck or suitable trailer. Our carriers are experienced with residential driveways, acreage properties, and active construction sites.

2. Direct Collection from Manufacturer

Trade customers and owner-builders with appropriate vehicles can collect directly from our manufacturer premises. Collection is by confirmed appointment only — unscheduled arrivals cannot be accommodated. Contact us to lock in a date before placing your order.

Manufacturer Collection Addresses

We have premises available across Victoria, Queensland, and New South Wales. The correct address depends on the products you're ordering — confirm with our team before arriving.

What to Expect on Delivery Day

Vehicle Types We Use

The freight vehicle assigned to your order depends on your order size, product type, and site conditions:

  • Crane truck / hiab — the most common option for residential sleeper deliveries; the crane arm places pallets at your nominated drop point without requiring forklift access
  • Flatbed with forklift — used where the site has firm, level ground and adequate clearance for forklift operation
  • Semi-trailer with hiab — reserved for large commercial or civil orders
  • Standard parcel freight — for lightweight accessories including brackets, ag pipe, geotextile fabric, and drainage components

Site Preparation Checklist

Before your delivery arrives, please confirm the following:

  • Vehicle access is at least 3 metres wide and clear of overhead obstructions (branches, power lines, awnings)
  • Ground at the drop zone is firm and stable — wet or soft ground can prevent safe unloading
  • The truck can park within 100 metres of the unloading point
  • The drop zone is clear and ready before the truck arrives
  • A responsible adult is on site to receive and sign for the delivery

Unloading Time & Delay Charges

To keep freight costs fair for all customers, each pallet must be unloaded within 5 minutes. If unloading takes longer, an additional charge of $2.50 per minute applies. The same 5-minute standard applies to self-collection from manufacturer premises.

Having your site prepared in advance is the simplest way to avoid these charges.

Pallet Quantities

Concrete sleepers are palletised at the manufacturer. Standard quantities per pallet are:

  • 80mm concrete sleepers — 10 sleepers per pallet
  • 100mm concrete sleepers — 8 sleepers per pallet

Order quantities should align with full pallets where possible to minimise freight costs and handling. Not sure how many sleepers your project needs? Call us on 1800 880 124 and we'll help you calculate the right quantity based on your wall dimensions and soil conditions.

Estimated Freight Lead Times

  • Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra — 5 to 10 business days
  • Regional areas — 10 to 15 business days
  • Remote and rural locations — variable; contact us for a quote before ordering

Lead times are confirmed once your order is placed and a job number is issued by the manufacturer. We'll notify you of your delivery window and keep you updated if anything changes.

Common Delivery Questions

Can you deliver to a farm or rural block?

Yes. We regularly deliver to rural and semi-rural properties. Freight costs and lead times will be higher than metro areas. Provide your postcode and order details when you contact us and we'll give you an accurate freight quote upfront.

Does someone need to be home?

Yes — a responsible adult must be present to receive and sign for the delivery. We cannot leave heavy materials unattended without prior written agreement.

What if my sleepers arrive cracked or damaged?

Photograph everything before signing the delivery docket and contact us straight away. Do not refuse the delivery — accepting and documenting the damage gives us the strongest basis to resolve the issue with the manufacturer under Australian Consumer Law.

What if my delivery is running late?

We'll contact you as soon as we're aware of any delay. For our full position on delivery delays, refer to our Returns, Delivery & Refund Policy.
