Every steel post in a concrete sleeper retaining wall needs a solid footing — and that footing is only as good as the concrete mix used to set it. Getting the footing right is one of the most critical steps in the entire build. An undersized or poorly mixed footing is the most common cause of post movement and wall failure over time.
Our range of concrete, cement, and bonding agents is selected specifically for retaining wall post footing applications — trade and DIY quantities available, with Australia-wide delivery.
Steel retaining wall posts are typically set in concrete footings that extend below the base of the wall. The footing depth should be at least one-third of the total post length — and often more in soft, wet, or expansive soils. The footing diameter should be sufficient to resist the lateral loads imposed by the retained soil.
