Retaining Wall Delivery — SA, WA, TAS & ACT

Retaining Walls Direct delivers premium concrete sleepers, galvanised steel posts, drainage products, and retaining wall supplies to South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory. Whether you're in Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, or Canberra, we ship direct to your site with competitive freight pricing across all four states and territories.

Why These States Have Specific Delivery Considerations

SA, WA, TAS, and the ACT each have distinct logistics characteristics that affect concrete sleeper and steel post delivery:

  • South Australia — Adelaide metro has excellent freight access. Regional SA (Barossa, Riverland, Fleurieu, Mount Gambier, Port Augusta) requires 5–10 business day freight windows and must use depots for remote areas.
  • Western Australia — Perth metro and key regional centres (Bunbury, Mandurah, Geraldton) are well serviced. Remote and regional WA orders may require a Perth freight depot transhipment for final delivery.
  • Tasmania — All Tasmanian orders cross Bass Strait by sea freight before local delivery. This adds 2–5 business days to transit time versus mainland states. All major Tasmanian centres are deliverable including Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, and Burnie.
  • Australian Capital Territory — ACT freight is direct overland from NSW and is typically the fastest of the four, with Canberra metro receiving deliveries in 3–5 business days.

Heavy Freight Delivery — What You Need to Know Before Ordering

Concrete sleepers and steel posts are heavy, bulky freight items that require special handling. Before placing your order, please read these important delivery requirements:

Vehicle Access Requirements

  • Truck type: Deliveries are made by flat-bed truck or crane truck. These are large commercial vehicles requiring adequate access.
  • Minimum height clearance: 3.5m clearance at all entry points including gates, carports, and overhead power lines.
  • Road surface: The truck must be able to access kerbside safely. Delivery may not be possible to sites with soft verges or restricted road width.
  • Dead-end streets: Trucks need to be able to turn around. If your site is in a dead-end or cul-de-sac, contact us before ordering.

Delivery Is Kerbside by Default

Standard delivery is kerbside — the driver places the materials as close to the kerb as safely possible. The driver is not responsible for moving materials into your property beyond the kerbside drop. If you need delivery into the property, enquire about crane truck or Hiab delivery options when booking.

Tailgate Lift and Crane Truck Options

If your site has restricted access or you need materials placed inside the property, tailgate lift or crane truck delivery may be available in some areas. Contact us to enquire before placing your order — these options have additional freight charges.

Palletised Freight and Long Item Handling

Concrete sleepers are typically supplied loose on a flat-bed, not palletised. Steel posts may be bundled. You will need help from at least one other person to move materials from the kerbside drop to their final position on site. Concrete sleepers range from 25–45kg each depending on size and MPa rating.

Freight Quote Process

Freight pricing is calculated automatically at checkout based on your postcode and the weight and dimensions of your order. For large or trade orders, contact us directly for a consolidated freight quote which may be more economical than the checkout rate on high-volume orders.

For all SA, WA, TAS, and ACT deliveries: use the postcode calculator at checkout to estimate your freight cost. If your postcode returns a freight error or shows a remote surcharge you want to query, contact us directly before completing your order.

Trade Accounts and Priority Freight

Landscapers, builders, and contractors working regularly in SA, WA, TAS, or ACT can open a trade account with Retaining Walls Direct for priority pricing, freight coordination, and project-based ordering. Trade account holders can arrange freight quotes directly and coordinate multiple deliveries across a project schedule.
