Premium sealed concrete sleepers 200 × 75mm

Our Premium Sealed range of concrete sleepers adds a gloss-sealed, decorative face to a high-strength retaining wall sleeper — for projects where the wall is part of the finished landscape. Each sleeper is Australian-made from steel-reinforced concrete, rated 40+ MPa with 2 Reo bars, in a standard 200mm high × 75mm thick profile. The sealed finish looks more polished than plain concrete and is easier to keep clean.

How to choose the right finish

  • Mocha Timber Look — warm brown timber tone; suits timber fencing, decking, gravel paths and rural-style gardens.
  • Smokey Timber Look — dark charcoal timber tone; ideal for modern homes, black fencing and high-contrast designs.
  • Country Timber Look — weathered, rustic timber tone; suits acreage, native gardens and traditional landscapes.
  • Storm Grey Sandstone Block — textured stone-block face for depth, contrast and an architectural feature wall.

Sizes & weights

Length (post centres) Actual sleeper length Approx. weight Typical use
1600mm ≈ 1585–1590mm 57kg Shorter bays, tight access, corners and step-downs.
2000mm ≈ 1985–1990mm 72kg Standard residential and garden retaining walls.
2400mm ≈ 2385–2390mm 83kg Longer straight runs where wider post centres suit.

Lengths are post-centre spacing (the distance between posts), not the exact sleeper length — the actual sleeper is approximately 10–15mm shorter than the stated size, so it seats correctly into the steel posts at each end. Each course is 200mm high, so plan wall height in 200mm increments — a 1.0m wall is about 5 courses (5 sleepers per metre of height, per bay). Use the WallWise Pro calculator for an exact take-off.

Complete your retaining wall

Pair these sleepers with galvanised H, C and corner posts — C-channel for low walls in stable ground, H-beam for taller walls, corners, clay soils or surcharge loads. Finish with caps, fence brackets & hardware, and add drainage: ag pipe, geo matting and free-draining gravel, or a complete drainage kit. Buying the whole wall? See our retaining wall kits.

Why choose the Premium Sealed range

  • Gloss-sealed decorative face — a more finished look for visible walls.
  • 40+ MPa concrete with 2 Reo bars for strength and durability.
  • Low maintenance — no oiling, painting or timber treatment.
  • Termite, rot, weather and fire resistant — won't warp, split or splinter like timber.

Drainage, council & engineering

Water behind a wall is the number-one cause of failure — always plan drainage with free-draining aggregate, geotextile fabric and slotted ag pipe to a legal outlet. See our drainage guide and installation guide. Built to the principles of AS 4678 Earth-retaining structures. Council approval and engineering depend on wall height, soil, drainage, boundary position and surcharge loads — always check with your local council or a qualified engineer before starting.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between sealed and unsealed sleepers?
The sealed gloss surface gives a more polished, easier-to-clean finish and richer colour — ideal where the wall is a visible part of the landscape.

What finishes are available?
Mocha, Smokey and Country timber-look, plus Storm Grey sandstone block — in 1600, 2000 and 2400mm.

What size are these sleepers really?
The stated size (1600/2000/2400mm) is the distance between post centres, not the sleeper's physical length. The actual sleeper is approximately 10–15mm shorter than the stated size.

How much does a sleeper weigh?
About 57kg (1600mm), 72kg (2000mm) and 83kg (2400mm) — plan for a two-person or mechanical lift.

Which posts do I need?
Galvanised C-channel for low walls, H-beam for taller walls, corners or clay soils. See the steel post range.

How many sleepers will I need?
Five sleepers per metre of wall height, per bay. The WallWise Pro calculator gives an exact figure.

Do I need council approval?
It depends on wall height, location and your council — low garden walls are often exempt; taller, boundary or driveway walls usually are not. Always confirm locally.

Can you deliver to me?
We deliver across most of Australia. Send your postcode and quantities for a freight estimate.

⚠️ WA Customers Please Note: The longest sleeper size available for delivery to Western Australia is 1500mm. Please select 1500mm or shorter when ordering.
