SV28 is a premium high-gloss acrylic concrete sealer trusted by concreters, landscapers, and retaining wall builders across Australia. With over 50 years of hands-on experience sealing exposed aggregate, decorative concrete, and concrete sleeper retaining walls, we recommend SV28 as the go-to topcoat where a hard-wearing, UV-stable gloss finish is required — no primer needed in most conditions.
Whether you're sealing a freshly poured exposed aggregate driveway in Sydney, a decorative concrete path in Brisbane, or locking in the colour on a concrete sleeper retaining wall in Perth, SV28 delivers a consistent, long-lasting finish that resists grease, water, alkali attack, and UV degradation. We've applied this product on hundreds of jobs across every Australian climate — from the humidity of Queensland to the UV intensity of Western Australia — and it consistently outperforms cheaper alternatives in gloss retention and surface hardness.
Apply SV28 by roller or brush to clean, dry, fully cured concrete. For best results on porous surfaces, apply two coats — allow the first coat to dry fully (minimum 2 hours at 25°C) before recoating. Apply only when surface and ambient temperature is between 10°C and 35°C. Do not apply in direct sun, high humidity, or when rain is forecast within 4 hours of application.
Typical coverage: 8–12m² per litre depending on surface porosity and texture. A 10L pail will cover approximately 80–120m² in two coats — sufficient for a standard residential driveway or a 15–20 lineal metre retaining wall face.
Clear: Ideal where you want to protect and enhance the natural colour of the concrete without altering its appearance. The most popular choice for exposed aggregate and natural-tone sleepers. On a job we completed in Melbourne last year, two coats of SV28 Clear on a 40MPa exposed aggregate driveway produced a showroom-quality finish that the homeowner described as better than the original pour.
Tinted: Use when you want to deepen, enrich, or match an existing colour tone. Tinted SV28 is commonly used on decorative concrete and coloured sleeper walls where colour consistency across panels is critical — particularly useful when sealing charcoal concrete sleepers or woodgrain concrete sleepers to unify the finish.
SV28 is designed to be used as part of a complete retaining wall system. For best long-term results, ensure your wall has adequate drainage behind the sleepers before sealing the face. Poor drainage is the number one cause of premature sealer failure on retaining walls — hydrostatic pressure forces moisture through the concrete face and lifts the sealer film. See our Drainage Kits, Ag Pipe & Weep Holes collection for everything you need to drain correctly before sealing.
SV28 is formulated for use on concrete surfaces in accordance with general Australian concrete sealer application practices. For concrete sleeper retaining wall construction standards, refer to Standards Australia and AS 4678-2002 (Earth-Retaining Structures). Always consult your local council for wall height approval thresholds before construction.

Can I use SV28 on concrete sleeper retaining walls?
Yes — SV28 is well suited to sealing the face of concrete sleeper retaining walls. It locks in colour, resists moisture ingress, and provides a clean gloss finish. Apply to clean, dry sleepers after installation and once drainage is confirmed to be working correctly.
How many coats does SV28 need?
Two coats are recommended for all applications. The first coat penetrates and seals the surface; the second coat builds the gloss and provides the full protective film. Allow a minimum of 2 hours drying time between coats at 25°C — longer in cooler or humid conditions.
What temperature should I apply SV28?
Apply when the surface and ambient temperature is between 10°C and 35°C. Avoid application in direct sunlight on hot days — the sealer can dry too quickly, causing bubbling or uneven finish. Early morning application is ideal in summer.
How long before I can recoat or use the surface?
Allow a minimum of 2 hours between coats. The surface is typically ready for light foot traffic within 4 hours and vehicle traffic within 24–48 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Full cure is achieved at 7 days.
Is SV28 suitable for driveways?
Yes — SV28 is widely used on exposed aggregate and decorative concrete driveways. Its grease and water resistance makes it particularly suited to high-traffic residential and commercial driveway applications.
What is the difference between SV28 Clear and Tinted?
Clear SV28 protects without altering the concrete's natural colour. Tinted SV28 adds a colour tone to enrich or match existing surfaces — ideal for decorative concrete and coloured sleeper panels where colour uniformity across the wall is important.
