The Timberlook Smokey is the bold, contemporary choice in our Premium Sealed concrete sleeper range — a moulded timber-grain face in a deep charcoal tone that suits modern homes, black Colorbond fencing, rendered facades, and high-contrast landscape designs. Where the Country is relaxed and the Mocha is warm, the Smokey is striking — the finish that makes a retaining wall a design feature rather than a background element.
Each sleeper is Australian-made from steel-reinforced concrete rated 40+ MPa with 2 Reo bars, in a standard 200mm high × 75mm thick profile. The gloss-sealed dark timber-grain face delivers the drama of charcoal-stained hardwood without any of the maintenance — no oiling, no re-staining, no rot, no termites.

Note on sizing: The stated length is the distance between post centres, not the physical sleeper length. The actual sleeper is approximately 10–15mm shorter so it seats correctly into the steel posts at each end. Each course is 200mm high — plan 5 sleepers per metre of wall height, per bay.

What does the Timberlook Smokey finish look like?
A moulded timber-grain relief face in a deep charcoal tone — similar in appearance to charcoal-stained hardwood or dark-oiled timber boards. The grain texture runs horizontally across the sleeper face, and the dark sealed finish gives the wall a bold, architectural quality that lighter finishes don't achieve.
How does Smokey differ from Sandstone Storm Grey?
Both are dark finishes but with different textures. Smokey has a timber-grain moulded face — it reads as dark timber. Storm Grey has a stone-block relief face — it reads as dark masonry. Smokey suits landscapes with timber elements; Storm Grey suits rendered or masonry-heavy designs.
How many sleepers do I need?
Five sleepers per metre of wall height, per bay. For a 10m wall at 1m high with 2000mm post spacing: 5 sleepers × 5 bays = 25 sleepers. Always add 5–10% for cuts and wastage.
Which posts do I need with these sleepers?
